Bamboo Airways Carry On Limit & Hand Luggage Rules
Understanding the Bamboo Airways carry on limit ensures a smooth boarding process without unexpected gate penalties. The size and weight specifications depend on your ticket class:
Economy Class: 1 main piece up to 7 kg (15 lbs) with maximum dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm (115 cm total).
Business Class: 2 main pieces up to 14 kg total (7 kg each).
Personal Item: All passengers can bring 1 small accessory (e.g., laptop bag, handbag, or small backpack) up to 3 kg and within 40 x 30 x 10 cm.
Note: Gate agents strictly enforce carry-on dimensions. Items exceeding the allowance will be gate-checked, incurring airport counter or gate rates.
Bamboo Airways Checked Bag Weight Limit & Fare Classes
The Bamboo Airways checked bag weight limit varies by ticket class and itinerary. Individual items checked must never exceed 32 kg (70 lbs) per piece or 203 cm in total combined dimensions (Length + Width + Height) for safety regulations.
Economy Saver Max / Smart: 0 kg included (Fee applies; purchase up to 2 pieces)
Economy Flex / Hot Deal: 20 kg included (Up to 2 pieces)
Business Class (Smart / Flex): 40 kg included (Up to 3 pieces)
International Routes: 20 kg – 45 kg included depending on the route (2 to 3 pieces)
If you purchased an Economy Saver Max ticket, you must buy checked baggage separately. For custom itineraries or group bookings requiring pooled weight, contact our Bamboo Airways baggage helpline team at +1-833-894-5333.
Bamboo Airways Excess Baggage Fee per Kg & Overweight Rules
If you carry heavy suitcases or extra items, understanding the Bamboo Airways overweight baggage policy saves significant money. The airline sells excess baggage in tier packages rather than charging a standard flat Bamboo Airways excess baggage fee per kg at check-in.
Pre-Purchased Baggage Packages
Purchasing extra weight online or via agent assistance at least 24 hours prior to departure offers savings of up to 50% compared to airport rates:
20 kg Package:~300,000 VND (~$12 USD) pre-purchase
30 kg Package:~450,000 VND (~$18 USD) pre-purchase
50 kg - 60 kg Package: Available for travelers needing heavy-item capacity
Airport & Gate Penalties
Airport Counter: If bought within 3 hours of departure, baggage is sold in 15 kg increments (starting around 450,000 VND).
Departure Gate: Unapproved or oversized carry-on items spotted at the boarding gate incur a penalty rate of approximately 50,000 VND per kg.

The Bamboo Airways sports equipment baggage allowance provides options for travelers bringing bulky recreational gear like golf sets, surfboards, or bicycles:
Golf Equipment: One standard golf set (up to 14 clubs, 12 balls, shoes, and tees) is often included free or at discounted promotional rates depending on ticket tier.
Bicycles & Water Sports: Must be securely packed in hard cases or protective covers. They fly under standard checked limits or incur a dedicated sports equipment fee (~600,000 VND pre-purchased) if exceeding standard baggage allowances.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add extra weight if my ticket doesn't include checked bags?
You can pre-purchase weight packages (from 20 kg up to 60 kg) online or by calling our Bamboo Airways customer service phone number support line at +1-833-894-5333 at least 24 hours prior to flight departure.
Can I bring 3 bags as carry-on?
No, standard airline policies allow only two bags on board: one small personal item and one carry-on suitcase. Extra items must be checked, consolidated, or incur gate fees.
What are the new carry-on rules for 2026?
Airlines strictly enforce the 22x14x9 inch size limit—including handles and wheels—using automated gate scanners. Strict agents now measure bulges, enforce weight limits, and gate-check non-compliant bags.
Are 32 inch suitcases allowed on planes?
Not in the cabin, as they exceed standard carry-on size limits. As checked bags, 32-inch suitcases usually exceed 62 linear inches, triggering expensive oversized baggage fees.
Can I bring a purse and a backpack and a carry-on?
No, this counts as three items. You must consolidate the purse inside your backpack or carry-on so you are carrying only two items total when boarding the aircraft.
Conclusion
Navigating the Bamboo Airways Baggage Allowance rules requires selecting the right ticket class and planning ahead for extra weight. While Economy Flex and Business Class fares offer generous free allowances, travelers on budget Economy Saver options must pre-purchase baggage to avoid high counter rates.
